YES…

For some reason, last week was crazy. Crazy not in a good /great kind of way. I didn’t have much patience by the end of the week with anyone in my little family. Today I’m feeling really badly about some of the things I said & did. Does that ever happen to anyone else or is it just me? It’s a good thing kids & husbands are so forgiving! I really am SO blessed beyond measure! I am so thankful for my little family who loves me despite my weakness & shortcomings.

I did read this quote just when I needed it:

“it’s not the fingerprints on the wall that need my attention, but the people who put them there.”

Don’t you love that?! Tender mercy. A message for me straight from my Heavenly Father. ♥ wow. miracles. How does He do that?!

Well in order not to repeat such a week as last, here are a few of my goals.

This week I say yes to 6:30am.

I say yes to good thoughts that energize, uplift and encourage me.

I say yes to getting on the elliptical and exercising, & filling our meals with healthy ingredients!

I will say yes to God, & sincere prayer. Yes to reading my scriptures every single day.

I say yes to getting out of my house and into the sunshine!

I say yes to getting things DONE.  To staying with a job, until I’ve seen it through to completion.

I say yes to learning about things that make me joyful.  Yes to a good book!

I say yes yes yes to gratitude. YES to saying THANKS.

I say yes to encouraging others and being a supportive wife and friend.

I say yes to LIFE.

Yes to ME.

Yes to the people and things that energize, inspire and fill my soul with JOY.

I say yes to that trip to the library with the kids, Yes it is still on my to do list. ;)

Yes to listening to the soft promptings of the Spirit.

Yes to serving those around me!

I say yes to more organization in my life.

I say yes to having a really FANTASTIC week!!!

What do YOU say yes to this week?!

{I saw this list HERE, and it resonated so much with me I added and subtracted what I needed to make it my own.}

one little word

And you know what? I have not for the life of me been able to pick my ONE WORD for this year!!! It has been driving me crazy for the last month and a half! I think the problem was I had TOO many options, too many things I need to work on!!! Well when I read this

post I realized YES is my word! Yes to ALL of this and

whatever other adventure this year might take me on. Yes to being more disciplined, Yes to being healthy! Yes to building my confidence level, YES to nourishing my life with things that I love and what matters most to me! YES to the awesome  possibilities this year has to offer me!

Abundance…

Well, it’s another brand new year! What a treat! I love welcoming the new year in. We had a hustling and bustling Christmas, it was great. If you’ve been following my blog you know that I like to pick one word for the new year. Last year I picked the word Serenity. I guess I wasn’t quite ready to let that word go, because it has taken me quite some time to pick my little word for 2010. Proof of that would be on Saturday night, the kids were in bed early, and I decided to transform my master bathroom into a spa! I took a bubble bath, made a cup of French vanilla hot cocoa, and soaked for a while. I pulled out a few of my newest favorites. You can find both of these at Wal-Mart. The Stress and Tension Soak is fabulous! It’s scented with hints of juniper, oranges and menthol.  And the Apricot body scrub, smells like a fruit smoothie! Both are seriously yummy! I gave myself a little pedi, and painted my toes a fun color of pink! They had been red for the holidays forever it seemed like! Felt so good to freshen up!

As I soaked and sipped on my cocoa, I thought what do I want 2010 to bring? I thought of spiritual goals, goals to be healthy physically, goals financially, goals to deepen relationships, goals to try new & exciting endeavors , and goals of service, and ultimately to be a better me, all wonderful things. So it was then that I picked my word, to encompass ALL good things in my life. ABUNDANCE. Abundance of all things good. 2010 is going to be the BEST yet!!!

Well, it seems I always have a few projects going on, and if it’s okay with you, I’ll share a few of them.

I had some vinyl made up for a few spots around the house…

I won’t bore you with the rest… you’ve probably seen them before, of have them in you house. :)
Oh and we decided to FINALLY update our kitchen table, I’ve been wanting to refinish it forever!

So we turned this:

The sanding took forever, then we just spray painted it, sanded the edges, and then spray painted a clear polyurethane coat on top. Did I mention how much I ♥ spray paint?! I do. (even though I’ve been blowing black boogies, for two days straight! ha! ;) *Note to self: remember to pick up painting masks next time I have a big project like this.)

Well, it’s late. Luckily my kids have been sleeping in, still recovering from the post-holiday fun!
Have a great day!

Christmas 2008 & One Word + 200th post...

Well the year has come and gone! I'm so excited about 2009! First I'll do a quick re-cap of our Christmas. The kids were SO much fun! By far one of my favorite Christmases! Played games, LOVED having Angie & Neal home from California for two weeks, went shopping, had a marathon of "The Office". Anyone else out there Office fans?!
haha.
What a wonderful time of year it is! I love all the family get-togethers and fun that goes on. I especially love that we take a little more time than usual to remember the importance of Our Savior's birth. What a glorious miracle. What peace & happiness He brings into my life. I am so very thankful for the knowledge that He lives and loves each one of us! I hope each of you had a very Merry Christmas too!
My little sister Angie & I made this scarf
EEEK ! I am in love!! They are so cute! I've only made a beige one but am planning on making a few more. Which brings me to this MANDY won the give-away from below. I love Mandy! She is one of the most genuine, down to earth and sweet people I know! Mandy e-mail me with your address, and tell me if you would like a beige, robin egg blue, red or green scarf! :)
I am preparing for our New Year's Eve bash tonight. We are having a Wii party. I am super excited for this upcoming year. I started a new tradition for myself last year. I picked one word to incorporate into my life for the year. It was so amazing. You can read more about the process HERE. Last year my word was LIVE, the reason being, is sometimes with all my perfectionism and "to do lists" and great goals that I am constantly setting I forget to really stop and enjoy my life. I want to really live this year and not just let another year fly by me. I'm going to take time out for me. I'm going to have more tea parties and dress up time with Brooklyn. I want to be more supportive of Zach and really take advantage of the time we get to spend together. I want to get out of my comfort zone and try new things, for instance I'm going to take a few online classes, one being photography! I'm going to stop being so busy and really focus on what matters most to me.
I feel like I truly accomplished that goal in 2008. I tried many new things. I got out of my comfort zone and I jumped at the opportunity to do more with my little family and anyone else that asked me for that matter. :)

So in honor of 2009 I'm excited to announce my new word! This year I've picked SERENITY. The definition of Serenity is this: the quality or state of being serene; calmness; tranquillity
For me this year it means I'm going to work towards serenity through meditation, keeping the focus on the positive in life, and letting go of what I cannot control. I want to get back to the basics with my family. Eat dinner around the table together, choose healthy foods, and feed myself and family spiritually! Have you ever been to a Spa or better yet the Temple? I want to bring that type of "serenity", peace & calmness into my own home & heart.
This is my 200th post! Can you believe it?? So let's do one more scarf give-away! Leave me a comment telling me what your One Word or new years resolution is going to be for the year! Thank you so much for reading my silly little random ramblings on this blog. I have had so much fun getting to know you all and reconnecting with old friends!
HAPPY 2009!!!!!

Where does the time go...

Hello friends! You guys are SO much fun!! Wow, thank you so much for all the great comments in my last post. I stuck everyone's name in a random drawing, and the WINNER IS.... DOMINOE! I'll get you a goody in the mail this week! Also, I'm still looking for some unique names, so keep them coming and if we do end up using it, I'll also send you a little something too!! Judging on your comments, Braxton was by far the favorite. And then we had a tie for with Stetson, Kanyon and Jaeden for second place. We don't have very long to decide, so we'll keep brainstorming. Last week, I told you my "One Word" for the year was going to be LIVE. Well I am happy to report that I did just that. Zach came rushing home last Thursday and asked me on a whim if I wanted to go Ice Fishing. It was fairly cold out and I had an endless to do list. I have to admit that my first reaction was to say Nah, it's okay but you go ahead and have fun. However, thinking about my one word and realizing this was my perfect opportunity to incorporate it into my life, I went. I grabbed my snow stuff and Brooklyns, the camera, and some hot chocolate and we were out the door. I'm so glad I didn't go with my instinct. I had alot of fun spending the day with my two favorite people in the world. I'm so proud of myself. :)

One Little Word...

Okay I've been thinking and thinking about the one word that I want to incorporate into my life this year. I think I finally came up with it. It's Live. The reason being, is sometimes with all my perfectionism and "to do lists" and great goals that I am constantly setting I forget to really stop and enjoy my life. I want to really live this year and not just let another year fly by me. I'm going to take time out for me. I'm going to have more teaparties and dress up time with Brooklyn. I want to be more supportive of Zach and really take advantage of the time we get to spend together. I want to get out of my comfort zone and try new things, for instance I'm going to take a few online classes, one being photography! I'm going to stop being so busy and really focus on what matters most to me. I'm a truly going to LIVE my life to the fullest this year.
