Halloween Ghosts…

I made one of these cute ghosts when I was in elementary school. I loved putting it out at Halloween time. We decided to make one that would hang out at our house this year!

To make your own spooky Ghost:

Here's what you need...

1 Liter Pop Bottle,

Starch,

Cheese Cloth,

Old Towel,

Scrap piece of felt,

Styrofoam ball (the white kind works best)

First thing you are going to do is cover your working area with your towel. The starch is easily washed out of a towel but it gets messy if you don't cover up your area.

Then make your ghost form. I just shoved the styrofoam ball on top of the pop bottle. (if you are using a green floral ball cover it with plastic wrap or something so you don't get green fuzzies on your cheese cloth.)

Next, lay the cheese cloth over your ghost form. (We doubled our cheese cloth.) We took the cheese cloth and soaked it in the starch then used our hands to wring it out. You could also use a spray bottle. The more starch the stiffer your ghost. Next you can use a hair dryer to help make the drying time faster, we just set ours out in the sun to dry. Once it is completely dry, pull it off of your form and glue on some felt eyes.

Happy Favorite Fall…

You know what I’m looking forward to? The Becky Higgins Project REAL LIFE online class. I’m seriously obsessed with Becky Higgins style, organizational skills, and project life. I can’t wait for this class to start next week!!!  Curious… check it out RIGHT HERE. There is still time to sign up!

I’ve already putting my Halloween decor out. Call me crazy, but I’m excited to be hosting a little Halloween party next week. I’m doing it super early. I hope it doesn’t put a damper on the fun, but it was the ONLY weekend in October we had open! If you read my blog you know I can be a little obsessive compulsive about things. One thing is the scents that are in my house. I change out my scentsy and candles, my wall plug ins and my soaps with the seasons. :D Anyone else a little crazy like that? I hope I’m not the only one. {note to self… someday I’m going to learn to take really amazing pictures… until then, yep we are all stuck with these!}

I LOVE fall!! It’s a season of warmth, and I love that we slow down enough to more fully realize our blessings and be thankful.

Here is a little fall handout I made for my cute young women this week.

These cupcakes are one of my all time favorite fall treats. Get the recipe HERE.

10 on Tuesday…

1. IMG_1487
Randomly picked this up on a road trip and I’ve been obsessed ever since. SoBe Life Water Pacific Coconut. Try it.

2. Pretty obsessed with the Olympics these days too. The gymnastics is by far my favorite, right next to the diving and do I dare admit this but… I kind of like the synchronized swimming too! ha!

The kids totally fell asleep one night watching the Olympics. ♥

3. On the same lines as gymnastics, we found this CUTE American Girl Doll App for the iphone. It’s Called McKenna’s Gymnastics. Love it. Brooklyn thinks she wants Santa to bring her an American Girl Doll for Christmas. ;)

4. Finally took the kids to a Summer Movie. Super cute. My favorite thing was that all the kids in the theater kept breaking into laughter at all the same parts!  IMG_1522
5. I really love this blog. She is full of cute ideas!
Pillow Thought
6. Does anyone else HATE these new blogger ads? Grrr.
7. I ordered this journal to help me study my scriptures better. In love. Go HERE to check out her system.

8. My friend Annalee posted this song on her blog, loved it. I love being a mom. Even on the hard days. It’s almost been a year since we put our adoption papers back in. I don’t like to admit it but I worry and wonder if our little family is complete. Moving on, so I don’t start dripping tears on the keyboard. :(

9. I love our garden. Confession, more than half of it is growing my decorative pumpkins for my porch this fall. ♥

10. Favorite quote today  {I used it in my lesson on Sunday}

“A friend is more concerned about helping people than getting credit. A friend cares. A friend loves. A friend reaches out.
We can strengthen one another; we have the capacity to notice the unnoticed. When we have eyes that see, ears that hear, and hearts that know and feel, we can reach out and rescue those for who we have responsibility.
Often small acts of service are all that is required to lift and bless another: a question concerning a person’s family, quick words of encouragement, a sincere compliment, a small note of thanks, a brief phone call. If we are observant and aware, and if we act on the promptings wish come to us, we can accomplish much good.” President Thomas S. Monson

I want to be a better friend.

Whirl Wind Summer…

You wouldn’t believe me if I told you how stinkin’ busy we’ve been lately. I recently got called as the new Young Women President. I know. What in the world were they thinking?! Believe me I ask myself that every single day!! I have wonderful counselors and advisers that make up for way more than I am lacking! We just got back from a week of girls camp. What a blast! It was seriously so fun! We took them to Bear Lake, the Minitoka Caves, floated the river at Lava Hot Springs and really roughed it… I’m talking infinity toilets and all! ha! It was SO good for all of us prissy girls!! We had THE BEST camp director ever, she is also my next door neighbor! LOVE her!!! She had some really cute ideas and it was the perfect mix of spiritual and fun. She gave the girls a swagger bag at the beginning of camp with homemade chapstick- I’ve got to get the recipe it was SO awesome! A journal etc.We did a night hike, she lit up glow in the dark signs and had the girls stop at each sign up the hike to read a scripture or thought. As I walked up the trail and paused I looked up into the starry sky. I am so thankful for the beauty that surrounds us. I know our Heavenly Father is looking down on us, wanting to give us everything that He has. I know He knows us each as individuals, blesses us and is directing our lives.

The day after we got home from camp me and my sister in laws threw a super fun bridal shower for Kenzii. Here are a few pics. Our theme was “Love Birds”. We did an Italian Soda Bar, made the best cupcakes I’ve ever had. GO HERE for the recipe! {Thanks Lyndsi for the recipe!}

My SIL Chelsea did the games- SO cute! They were fun and quick. ;) He says, She says- where we asked the bride and groom to answer some questions and the guests had to guess whether he or she said it. The other game we played was Bridal Shower Bingo. You guess what the bride is going to get and fill in the bingo card accordingly. We did a prize for bingo and a black out.

Now we are packing up and heading to Bear Lake for a week. I love summer, but when I’m in the middle of all the work I feel crazy, if I just  stop and pause, I know why we go to all the trouble. It’s totally worth it for the kids. They don’t get many summer’s in their sweet lifetime that will be so carefree and I want them to have great memories. It’s definitely worth it! I hope you are each having the most wonderful summer full of good memories too!

Feel free to use this handout however you would like, you can right click and save to your desktop. Might also be fun to pass out at camp before testimony meeting.

Summer Lovin…

This song is my fave right now. ♥

We just finished our swimming lesson session. It was AWESOME. Until today, diving board day. It pushed Brooklyn a little too far. It didn’t go over well. Hope she will try again next year?! There were tears, screaming,a meltdown and more tears. Felt so bad for her. I kind of have a phobia of deep water myself, so I can’t blame her. The diving board looks so high when you actually get up there!

We are checking things off our summer bucket list left and right. We’ve been having a lot of fun, but I’m ready for a little slower pace of life. I like to be busy, but I also like to have those lazy days lounging around on the porch eating popsicles and running through sprinklers and we haven’t had many of those days yet!
IMG_1220 IMG_1288 IMG_1312
Camping feet. Can only mean one thing… they’ve had way too much fun!!

IMG_1304
We had a super fun 4th of July. One of my favorite holidays- well who am I kidding? I say that about EVERY holiday that rolls around. I really do love the parades, the fireworks,the BBQ’s, dressing the kids up in red white and blue and the patriotic feeling rushing through the crowds.
 DSC_1495 DSC_1483 DSC_1485 IMG_1409

One thing I forgot I was going to blog about was a new discipline method we are using.
These are our “Good Bean/Bad Bean Jars”
IMG_1321
If the kids do something they shouldn’t they have to put a bad bean in the jar, when I catch them being good they put one in the good bean jar, when we decide it’s time to do something extra fun like go to the movies or to the water park etc. We check their good and bad bean jars to see which one is more full. So far it’s helped me out a ton this summer. It’s kind of nice too, because the other day Brooklyn came and told me about something naughty she had done. So for telling the truth she got to put in two good beans, but she still had to put in a bad bean too, for doing something she wasn’t supposed to. Thanks to my sister in law Linda for the great idea! It really helps the kids be accountable for their own actions.
We also had a BIRTHDAY in our house! My favorite boy turned 32. They just don’t come any better than him. Love him so much. To celebrate we had a few people over for a little crab boil. It was so fun. Definitely be doing it again soon. Go HERE for the recipe.
