Catching UP!

I am attempting to get this little blog caught up! Hopefully I can do it! I don’t get overwhelmed very easy, but I’ve been putting this off for way to long! ;)

I’m going to share a couple handouts with you for young women’s and church. You are welcome to right click and download any of these. They are for personal use only.

Brooklyn’s turning 8 this year and that means her and all her friends will be getting baptized! We made this cute printable so we could give some of her friends a little treat on their special day. We attached a package of gummy bears.

Activity Days a Year planned out...

I just wanted to record this for my own future reference and be able to have it all in once place. But if it can help any of you out there too great! :) Activity Days A Year Planned Out Calendar January 6th * Getting to Know your girls activity This is the questionaire we did... Getting to Know You Survey A great way to get acquainted with your Activity Day girls is to do a get-acquainted survey together. This is a fun ice breaker and you can learn a lot about your girls. Your girls will enjoy learning about you, too. ************************************************************************************ PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:
Your name __________________________________ Age _____ 1. What is your middle name? 2. When is your birthday? 3. What is your favorite song? 4. Who is your favorite singer or group? 5. What is your favorite color? 6. How many brothers and sisters do you have? 7. What are their names? 8. What is your favorite TV show? 9. If a genie granted you one wish, what would it be? 10. What is your favorite food? 11. Do you have any pets? What kinds? What are their names? 12. Who is your favorite movie star? 13. Do you write with your right hand or left hand? 14. What kind of activities would you like to do in Activity Days this year? ************************************************************************************* January 21st * Card Making I had the cards split into kits already and I let the girls choose 2 card kits to make. We just put all the supplies needed into ziplock bags for each kit. ************************************************************************************* Feb 8th *Mom & Me Activity Have each mother be at a station and have the girls rotate around in small groups. The stations could include, sewing on a button, ironing a small item, learn to make a bed, sweep or mop a floor, make an easy treat, fold clothes or towels, sorting laundry etc...make it fun and informative. ************************************************************************************* March 7th * Home made Lip gloss and lemon hand healer Spa treatments etc. You can find the recipe for Lip Gloss Here and lemon hand healer right here. ************************************************************************************* March 19th *Recipe Exchange Start your own recipe collection. Have each child bring a few easy and nutritious recipes that the children could learn to make at home. Let the children copy each recipe on an index card. Challenge them to keep them in a book or box (a small picture album works great, even the free ones you get when you get your pictures developed). Suggest that they try to continue to add to their recipe collection. Suggest that they cook dinner for their families using the recipes. or TASTERS NIGHT: have the girls pick out one of their favorite recipes, something simple so they can make it themselves, and bring a sample to a "tasters night". We really encouraged the girls to make the dish themselves so that they could be fully involved in this. We also made copies of all the recipes ahead of time and compiled it in a girl's achievement recipe book. ************************************************************************************ April 6th *Walk around river or lake etc. Take a hike. ************************************************************************************ April 20th * Baby sitting kits http://theideadoor.com/Youth/YW%20Activities/baby_sitting_kits.htm or check to see if your local hospital offers babysitting classes, I've heard of some of them being only $3 or $4 dollars per person. ************************************************************************************ May 9 6:00 pm *Modge Podge Mother’s Day Blocks w/pics Tutorail found Here ************************************************************************************* May 19th 4:00 pm * eating healthy, smoothie making We talked a little bit about eating healthy and how it can still taste great! Lip gloss, recipes, & birthdays...

Well, I just finished reading Eat. Pray. Love. I personally fell in love with the book. I know it's a bit controversial but I ate it up. I usually read fairly quickly, but with all the business of my life lately, it took me forever. Now I'm starting The Holy Secret by James L. Ferrell (He also wrote The Peace Giver... LOVED that one too!! Here are some of my FAVORITE quotes from Eat. Pray. Love

  • "At sometime you have to make peace with what you were given and if God wanted me to be a shy girl with thick, dark hair, He would have made me that way, be He didn’t. Useful then, might be to accept how I was made and embody myself fully therein. "

    • "People universally think that happiness is a stroke of good luck, something that will maybe descend upon you like fine weather if you’re fortunate enough. But that’s not how happiness works. Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it, you must keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it. "

      • “The wise man is always similar to himself.” ancient Pythagorean Philosopher

        • I just saw THIS CUTE IDEA, for home made lip gloss... It would be so perfect for activity days, a birthday party, or even Young Women's... C'mon who doesn't LOVE lip gloss?! You can find the packaging supplies a little cheaper HERE. Home Made Lip gloss 1. Melt 1 tsp. Vasoline 2. Add 1/4 tsp. Kool-Aid (sugar free) 3. Stir until dissolved and mixed together completely 4. Pour into lip gloss container 5. Let cool and apply
We just had our monthly Recipe Group so you can, as usual check out all our recipesCookin' Mama's, and it was my cute nephew Carter's 3rd birthday on Wednesday! I need more pics of Carter, because this is the best one I have that is recent enough to post!

I'm also wanting to try THIS, recipe I saw on Janeal's Blog, a while back. It's perfect since everyone who has a garden or knows someone with a garden has Zucchini coming out of their ears right?! Do you ever just go crazy thinking about all you would like to get done?! I'm wishing there were 3 or 4 of me this week!
It's my Grandma's Birthday today, and we are having a little BBQ for her tonight! Happy Birthday Grandma!

I'm making some more Head Bands ... and I realized I have 3 extra red ones from the wedding, so I thought why let them go to waste... sounds like a give-away to me!! Just leave a comment if you want one, and I'll draw 3 names in a few days. Hope you all have a perfect weekend!!

          Some big changes...

I know alot of you who like to use pre-made templates... thank you :Shannon. for introducing :THIS awesome site to me!! Braxton had his 6 month well baby check up... we finally figured out that he has Reactive Airway. It's sort of like baby asthma, but he will eventually grow out of it, but for now, we get to do breathing treatments 3x a day. Poor little guy, isn't a huge fan... On Sunday I got released from my favorite church calling ever... Activity Day Leader. (Here are a few of my girls at our last activity on Monday, I just LOVE them!) My new calling is teaching the 12-14 year old girls in the Young Women's Program. I'm a little intimidated, since I haven't taught Young Women's since I was first married... our lesson this week is on Scripture Study, one that I probably need more than the girls! Here is the handout I made today to go along with the lesson. The good news is that by next year, I will have alot of my cute Activity Day girls in my Young Women's class! And so it's been another busy week. I guess I wouldn't have it any other way. P.S. Any tips on being in Young Women's would be much appreciated! :) Hope you are all having a perfect week!!

          25 years in the making...

It always amazes me how a little bit of sunshine can lift my mood and I seem to accomplish two or three times as much on days like this! It's my BIRTHDAY tomorrow, I'm the big 25. My sister-in-law is turning 25 this year to, and it's a really big deal to her. It's not to me. I don't know why. Should it be? So today I renewed my license. I hate the picture and you know how they give you the choice to renew it for 4 or 8 years? I picked 8, before the pic. was taken, and now I wish I would have said 4. Dang. Zach and Brooklyn spent most of the day outside playing, and doing yard work. Zach is at a dentist appointment both my kids are asleep and my Activity Day girls will be here in just a few minutes. We are making Brownies in a bottle, you can check it out RIGHT HERE. I hope it works, because I didn't do a practice round. lol. Zach's brothers family moved back from TN after graduating from Optometery. We are SO excited to have them close again!! Brooklyn LOVES her cousins. We are planning on helping them move into their new place tonight. Plus it's the first time they'll get to meet Braxton! :) I also found a few new craft projects, as if I need a few more. They are pretty simple ones though. I'll post some pics when I'm done. You can check see where I'm getting my inspiration though... I'm all for sharing my secrets. I rarely come up with an idea on my own, I'm just good at copying. :) HERE, HERE, and Here Oh, and anyone have any good Mother's Day gifts?? I need a few and QUICK!
